Off-Road Recovery Services in Tooele County, Utah

Buried to the axles, high-centered on a rut, or slid off a two-track in the dark? We pull vehicles out of the places pavement doesn’t go.

What is off-road recovery?

Off-road recovery is getting a stuck or disabled vehicle back to solid ground when it’s somewhere a normal tow can’t simply back up to. It’s part pulling, part planning. Where do we anchor, which direction do we pull, and how do we get it out without making it worse?

Sometimes that’s a short winch-out. Sometimes it’s a careful recovery followed by a ride home on the flatbed. Either way, the goal is the same: you and your vehicle back on a road, in one piece.

Where do people get stuck in Tooele County?

Everywhere the fun is. Tooele County is one of the biggest counties in Utah, and most of it is open desert, canyons and salt. The usual suspects:

  • Sand, where tires dig instead of climb.
  • Canyon and mountain roads that turn to ruts and mud after a storm.
  • Snow and ice on back roads and steep driveways in winter.
  • The salt flats out by Wendover. The BLM notes driving is allowed on the flats except during seasonal closures, which happen in spring when the salt is moist or has standing water (BLM, Bonneville Salt Flats). Wet salt under a dry-looking crust is how a lot of people find out.
  • Dirt roads and two-tracks across the west desert, where a soft shoulder or a washout can grab a tire fast.

What should I do while I wait?

  • Stop spinning your tires. It digs you deeper and can cook a transmission.
  • Stay with your vehicle unless you’re in danger. It’s easier to find than a person on foot.
  • Drop us a pin or tell us the nearest road, mile marker or landmark.
  • Keep water and a layer handy. Desert nights get cold, even in summer.
  • Tell us about your rig: make, model, 2WD or 4WD, and anything broken.

Can you recover side-by-sides, Jeeps and lifted trucks?

Call and tell us what you’re in. We do vehicle recovery for trucks, Jeeps, SUVs and cars, and we’ll be straight with you about your specific rig and where it’s sitting. An honest "here’s what it takes" beats a surprise every time.

Is off-road recovery the same as a winch-out?

Close cousins. A winch-out is usually a quick pull from a ditch, snowbank or soft shoulder right off the road. Off-road recovery is the bigger job: further out, harder to reach, and often more than one pull. We do both.
